THE FASHIONISTA: Campy Style Stars

THE FASHIONISTA: Campy Style Stars

This year's Met Gala had the fashion world exhilarated with it's most outrageous theme: Camp. Celebrity attendees were decked out in the campiest and most over-the-top outfits, some of which really exceeded expectations. For this year, the groundbreaking looks didn't come from the ladies, but from the men, who are pushing boundaries of gender dressing. Here are the best dressed campiest style stars on the pink carpet (bonus: featuring the 'King of Camp')

Mr Billy Porter

Actor, stage performer, singer, Mr Porter is in the spotlight recently starring in the dramedy Pose and winning awards for his role as Pray Tell.
He's also in the fashion spotlight wearing gender-bending outfits such as a tuxedo gown from Christian Siriano or a caped embroidered suit from Randi Rahm with great dramatic flair. For this year's Met Gala, he is an Egyptian goddess, wearing a gold body suit equipped with golden wings made especially for him by The Blonds.

Let's not forget the campy 80's costumes he wore on Pose. Nobody can carry off a top hat and suit quite like Mr Porter.

Mr Ezra Miller

Mr Miller is an American actor, well known for his role as Credance in the movie franchise Fantastic Beasts and How to Find Them. He is also very well known for his quirky campy style, favoring couture / avant garde fashion houses such as Givenchy, Bode and Moncler x Pierpaolo Piccioli. Only Mr Miller can look fabulous in a puffer jacket gown or a delicate white feather cape.

For the Met Gala, he turned heads with mind-blowing SFX makeup and a Tiffany & Co diamante corset over a Burberry pinstripe wool suit and train.

Mr Jared Leto

A groundbreaking fashion chameleon, Mr Jared Leto is no longer a 90's teen heartthrob but a renown fashion icon and Gucci muse. His fashionable reputation has earned him invites to the Met Gala for the past few years, wearing Gucci head to toe. This year he has an intriguing (somewhat morbid) accessory, a bust of his head, which he carries around like a purse.

Sir Elton John

Introducing the inimitable Rocket Man himself, the 'King of Camp', this year Met Gala's muse, Sir Elton John. The unique and showy outfits (and the signature shades) he wore for his concerts and performances made him the ultimate performer, wowing his audiences and fans whenever he appears. In the 70's and 80's, Sir Elton John wore extravagant costumes from fashion designer Bob Mackie, which sealed John's iconic campy style. This year kicks off his final farewell tour and he finishes off in great style wearing exclusively Gucci outfits.

All hail the King of Camp!
