THE FASHIONISTA: WANNY DI FILIPPO

In this issue, we introduce to you the flamboyant Fashionista Wanny Di Filippo. Affectionately known as the “Menswear Santa Claus” and the founder of leather goods company Il Bisonte, the eccentric bearded Venetian brightens up Pitti Uomo with his eclectic personal style of colours and prints. His flair for layering and accessorizing is influenced by his love for the artisanal, handmade and antique.

Born in 1945, young Wanny loved painting, drawing and experimenting with the arts. Even though his pragmatic father induced him into attending technical college, he did not complete his studies and attended drawing school based in Paris. At the age of 18, he met his wife Nadia and together they created their first objects of leather such as bags or wallets as gifts for friends. In 1970, Il Bisonte opened shop in Florence, producing classic handcrafted leather goods.

“I dress for myself…the fashion houses don’t influence my wardrobe. That which you see is me, not the latest fashion that has appeared in the glossy magazines.”
